An Introduction

How many times have you looked back at a historical event and thought, What If?

You are not alone. Millions of people think the same thing on a daily basis. The field is so interesting that large production companies are getting in on the concept. Apple TV is launching a new series called For All Mankind which will explore what would have happened if the Soviet’s had beaten the US to the moon. Amazon Prime has had the highly successful series based on Philip K. Dick’s book The Man in the High Castle entering it’s 4th and final season this November. Dozens of books reviewing what would have happened if the slightest change in military tactics had occurred in World War II exist in bookstores and on e-readers all over the world.

One of the most prolific authors in the genre of alternate-history fiction is Harry Turtledove and his timeline-191, also known as Southern Victory, explores how the world might have been different if the Confederacy had won the American Civil War.

So what brings us together here? First and foremost, I have a strong desire to do my own takes on how things might have been different. Many different view points exist on how things could have changed over the course of history and this blog will allow me to present my viewpoint. Secondly, I have read quite a few of these books and would love to review them here for others to see. If my writings here are able to attract a few more individuals to the world of Alternative History then I will feel accomplished.

It is important to not only explore how things happened throughout history but to also explore how things could have gone differently. Only through this exploration will we be able to prepare for all future contingencies as a society going forward.
